Michael Kovalik

For several years, I worked with model and muse Michael Kovalik, taking hundreds of film photographs, which exist somewhere between editorial fashion and portraiture. This work with Michael remains one of my most joyful and dear experiences of collaboration.

The Gold Series

One of the results of my photographic work with Michael was a solo photography exhibition at Paved art + new media, titled "My Sky Has No Clouds: The Visible Worlds of Michael K." The Gold Series and some of the other photographs in this online gallery were included in that show.

Move Closer

In Move Closer (a half-hour film drama, which I co-produced, directed and wrote with assistance from the Saskatchewan Arts Board), Michael plays Johnny, a mute beautiful boy who enters the lives of a rich, art family and exposes their family secrets. Photography plays a significant role in the film.
